PREPARATION OF METAL CHARGE AND LIME FOR STEEL MELTING
Te charge, used for steel melting, consists of secondary metal scrap, pig iron, metallized pellets and other iron-containing materials.
Metal scrap is the main part of the charge. Metal scrap is received, stored and processed in the scrap yard. Heavy and large-sized metal scrap is separated and cut with the help of press shears and manual flame cutters. Prepared scrap is loaded into charge baskets with capacity 80 cub.m. and by 180 tons auto scrap carriers transported to arc furnaces. Two baskets of metal charge are prepared for one heat. Weight of metal scrap and other components of the charge in the baskets, is automatically registered and transmitted to ACS TP of electric melting.

Before delivery into the scrap yard metal scrap is controlled for the presence of radiological, chemical and other types of contamination.
Cast iron, one of the charge components, is delivered in ingots.

Metallurgical lime after soft annealing (content of CaO min 95%) is one of the most important materials which is used for steel melting. Lime is produced in two local shaft reverse kilns, they are heated with natural gas. Belt conveyors deliver lime to the electric furnaces.
Metallized pellets are supplied to the plant by special rail transport, they are stored in storage hoppers of melt shop ?2. Metallized pellets are supplied on belt conveyors to feed bins of electrical furnaces. Metallized pellets, as a component of metal charge, are used for melting of steel intended for steel cord and wire production.
