PRODUCTS OF STEEL CORD AND WIRE PLANTS

Among the products of BMZ the special attention is paid to steel cord and wire plant products: steel cord, bronze plated bead wire for tires reinforcement as well as brass plated wire for hoses reinforcement. After the commissioning of the steel cord and wire plant No. 1 in 1987, the complete process cycle beginning with the steel melting in electric arc furnace (using the scrap) to steel cord, bead wire and hose wire (RML) production was developed and implemented at one steel works for the first time in the world.

The technological process of steel cord production consists of the following stages:

incoming control of wire rod;
acid pickling and surface treatment for further drawing;
large drawing of picked wire rod on drawing machines;
patenting and surface treatment of large drawn wire for further
processing;
intermediate drawing on intermediate drawing machines;
patenting and brass plating of wire after the intermediate drawing;
fine drawing of brass plated wire and testing of fine wire;
core and strands laying and steel cord manufacturing on cabling
machines;
laboratory testing, quality control on inspection line, sorting and lot formation;
finished products packing and storing;

Bead wire of the required size is manufactured at the stage of intermediate drawing with further thermal treatment and bronze plating in a special bronze plating line.

The manufacturing of hose wire (RML) of required diameter is finished on the stage of fine drawing of brass plated wire.

The testing and quality control of finished products are carried out on inspection, sorting and lot formation line. The packed products are delivered to the warehouse.

The production capacity of steel cord and wire plants allows manufacturing of 75 constructions of steel cord, 20 diameters of bead wire and 45 diameters of hose wire (RML). Besides, this range of products includes:

welding wire (cooper coated and without coating);
spring wire;
reinforcing wire;
spoke wire;
nail wire;
general construction wire.

At present RUE "BMZ" is one of the biggest manufacturers of steel cord in Europe successfully competing with the leading manufacturers of reinforcing materials for tire and rubber industry such as Bekaert (Belgium), Trefil Arbed (Luxemburg), Gustav Wolf (Germany), Pirelli (Italy).
