Dear ladies and gentlemen,

I would like to welcome you on behalf of the Byelorussian Steel Works – one of the world leaders of iron and steel industry. Having started its history in 1984, RUE “BMZ” has become one of the best steel making enterprises not only in Belarus, but in the whole world.

From the point of view of the technological equipment, completeness of the steel making stages our plant is a unique enterprise. It is necessary to point out that in spite of the fact that the main raw material of the enterprise is scrap, which is actually an industrial waste, the plant produces such a complicated and science-intensive product as steel cord for leading tire makers of the world.

During its short history the plant extended a huge industrial, technological and human potential. The plant does not stand still, and even in the present difficult time we consider the possibility to implement a number of large investment projects. It’s not a secret that erection of a pipe facility is not a limit for BMZ.

Such an ambitious project as organization of a sheet production is a question of the nearest future. World financial and economic crisis has a serious impact on steel industry and forced many enterprises to adjust their investment and industrial plans. The crisis made the effective demand of the steel markets drop sharply. Having no possibility to sell the previous amounts of produce, steel plants have to decrease their production output.

Among large steel making enterprises only BMZ has managed to retain its production rate in such circumstances due to timely developed complex anti-crisis measures.

Today nobody doubts that the plant will adequately overcome this difficult period. The plant considers long-term competitiveness and subsequent expansion of its share of influence on the steel market one of the key strategic goals.
